New platform brings together independent publishing, recognition and professional services to connect Caribbean people, ideas and opportunities

4 November 2026 – Caribbean Unity Network has launched with the publication of the inaugural issue of REVIEW and the opening of public nominations for the Caribbean Honour Awards 2027.

Connecting Caribbean communities across Britain, the Caribbean region and the global diaspora, the organisation’s work centres on three pillars: INFORM, through REVIEW; CELEBRATE, through the Caribbean Honour Awards at the Spirit of the Caribbean Ball; and ADVISE, through professional services.

The launch responds to a need for stronger connections between Caribbean achievement, public discussion and opportunities for collaboration. Its approach recognises the distinct identities and experiences of Caribbean countries and communities while encouraging shared progress.

Nominations open for Caribbean Honour Awards 2027

The Caribbean Honour Awards will recognise achievement, leadership, service and contribution across Caribbean communities. They are planned to be presented at the Spirit of the Caribbean Ball on Saturday 12 June 2027.

The Awards build on recognition events delivered by Event Connoisseurs in London in 2022 and 2024. Under the continuing leadership of founder Elizabeth Flanders, Caribbean Unity Network will take this work forward, with the former Black Honour Awards becoming the Caribbean Honour Awards for 2027.

Public nominations are invited for individuals, organisations, initiatives, projects, teams and collaborations whose achievements are grounded in Caribbean heritage or demonstrate a contribution or benefit to Caribbean communities. Self-nominations are welcome, and there is no fee to nominate.

The eleven public categories are:

  • Caribbean Culture & Heritage
  • Creative Excellence
  • Enterprise & Innovation
  • Community Impact
  • Health & Wellbeing
  • Education & Skills
  • STEM Achievement
  • Sporting Excellence
  • Environmental Leadership
  • Rising Star
  • Caribbean Unity

A separate Lifetime Achievement honour will be selected from eligible nominees considered during the Awards process.

Nominations close on Sunday 21 March 2027 at 11.59pm UK time. Eligible nominations will be assessed against published criteria through an independent judging process, with conflicts of interest declared and managed. Sponsors and partners will have no role in nominations, shortlisting, judging or Award decisions.

Shortlisted nominees will be invited to attend as guests, continuing a commitment established at the first event in 2022. Recognition will be based on achievement and contribution, without requiring nominees to purchase a ticket.

Elizabeth Flanders, Founder of Caribbean Unity Network, said:

“Caribbean communities contribute across every area of society, yet too many achievements and stories remain overlooked. Caribbean Unity Network has been created to connect what exists, strengthen what works and help create what is missing.

Through REVIEW, the Awards and our wider work, we want to encourage informed discussion, give meaningful contribution the recognition it deserves and create opportunities for people and organisations to work together. Our starting point is unity without uniformity: respecting our distinct identities while recognising what we can achieve together.”

REVIEW joins the conversation

Published on 3 November 2026, the inaugural issue of REVIEW brings together analysis, interviews, commentary and perspectives on issues affecting the Caribbean and its global diaspora.

The independent publication creates space to examine evidence, ask questions, explore ideas and share the experiences and achievements of Caribbean people. Contributors, readers and prospective partners are invited to help shape future editions.
