CASTRIES, ST. Lucia, Nov 4, CMC – The Financial Intelligence Authority FIA) is urging St. Lucians to exercise caution before engaging in unregulated or unauthorised investment opportunities
The warning comes as the FIA announced that it has charged Sophia Pelage-David with two counts of money laundering after she was arrested on Monday, linked to the Creators Alliance pyramid-style investment and Ponzi scheme that operated in St. Lucia and across the wider Caribbean including Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines Dominica, and The Bahamas.
The FIA alleges that between January, 23, 2024 and July, 4, 2025, Pelage-David engaged in financial transactions inn the sum of more than EC$524.801 (One EC dollar=US$0.37 cents) which is believed to be the proceeds of criminal conduct.
It said Creators Alliance operated both locally and regionally from June 2024 before it collapsed abruptly in March last year, resulting in millions of dollars in financial losses to thousands of investors in St. Lucia and across the Caribbean.
“Investigations by the FIA into money laundering activity associated with the scheme remain ongoing, culminating in the arrest and charge of Pelage-David, following the arrest and charge of Electra Ferdinand for the same offence in September of 2026,” the FIA said in a statement.
It said that Pelage-David was taken before the First District Court on Tuesday, where she was granted bail in the sum of EC$$13,000 and will re-appear in court on December 10, this year.
The FIA said that the offence of money laundering carries maximum penalties of up to one million dollars dollars in fines and/or imprisonment for up to 15 years.
“The FIA advises persons to exercise caution before engaging in unregulated or unauthorized investment opportunities and to seek independent professional advice to verify the legitimacy of these schemes.”
