These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of cananews.com, operated by the Caribbean Media Corporation (“CMC,” “CANANews,” “we,” “us”). By using the site or creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
The Service
CANANews provides Caribbean news, sports, business, and features content online. Some content is freely available; other content requires a free account or a paid subscription.
Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us of any unauthorised use. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms.
Subscriptions and payments
Paid subscriptions are billed through our payment processor, Stripe, at the price and interval shown at checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops future billing and your access continues until the end of the current paid period. Except where required by law, payments already made are non-refundable.
Intellectual property
All content published on CANANews — including news reports, photographs, video, graphics, and the CANA and CMC marks — is owned by or licensed to the Caribbean Media Corporation and is protected by copyright and other laws. You may read and share links to our content for personal, non-commercial use. You may not republish, redistribute, or resell our content, in whole or in part, without prior written permission from CMC. Media houses and organisations seeking to license CANA wire content should contact us.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the site to break any law, infringe others’ rights, attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, scrape or harvest content at scale, or interfere with the site’s operation or security.
Disclaimers
The site and its content are provided “as is.” While we strive for accuracy and timeliness, we do not warrant that the content is error-free or that the site will be uninterrupted or secure. News content reflects information available at the time of publication.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CMC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site.
Changes
We may update the site and these terms from time to time. Material changes to these terms will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date; continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Barbados, and any dispute arising from them is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Barbados.
