DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Oct 21, CMC – The West Indies will open their 2027 Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup campaign against defending champions India in Kirtipur on January 22 after being drawn in Group A alongside Ireland and Nepal.

The 16-team tournament, the third edition of the event, will be hosted across four venues in Bangladesh and Nepal: Chattogram, Sylhet, Kirtipur and Mulpani, from January 21 to February 6.

Chattogram will stage both semi-finals on February 4 and the final on February 6.

For the West Indies, the Group A assignment presents an immediate test against an Indian side that has won both previous editions, in 2023 and 2025.

The Caribbean side will also face Ireland and host Nepal in the group stage as they bid to reach the Super Six stage.

The tournament opens on January 21 with four matches: Bangladesh vs UAE and Australia vs Nigeria in Sylhet, and Sri Lanka vs Scotland and England vs USA in Mulpani.

The West Indies will enter the fray the following day, with India vs West Indies and Nepal vs Ireland both scheduled in Kirtipur.

The 16 teams are split into four groups of four, followed by a two-group Super Six stage, semi-finals and final.

Group B features South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan and Samoa; Group C includes Australia, Bangladesh, Nigeria and UAE; and Group D comprises England, Sri Lanka, USA and Scotland.

All 41 matches will be played during the day, with morning games starting at 9.30 am local time and afternoon matches at 1.30 pm local time.

ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta said the tournament “is the stage that showcases the future of our sport” and described Bangladesh and Nepal as ideal hosts, noting that nearly 40% of both populations are under 20.
