PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, Oct 27, CMC – Murder accused Nicholas Ramlal is expected to appear before a High Court Master on Tuesday after he had been charged with the murders of his mother and teenage sister, whose bodies were found inside their burnt out home in Malick, Barataria, along the east-west corridor earlier this month.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) gave the green light to charge the 20-year-old Ramlal with the murders of Rosanna Ramlal, 49, a vendor and her 17-year-old daughter, Alina, a school child, whose bodies were discovered on October 16 after police and firefighters responded to reports of a fire at their home.
The husband and father, Wesley Ramlal, was reportedly away on a hunting trip when the incident occurred.
Post-mortem examinations showed that both victims had been shot in the head.
Initially, reports were that the accused had informed police that he was at home playing video games, when he heard noises coming from one of the bedrooms. Upon investigating, he saw four masked men assaulting the women and demanding money before shooting them both.
He managed to escape with minor scratches.
However, police investigations eventually led to him being charged.
