BELMOPAN, Belize, Jul 13, CMC -The Belize Department of Civil Aviation (BDCA) says the publication of its revised draft Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) regulations, which was originally targeted for release on June 30, this year, is now expected to be published at the end of this month.
The UAS is the entire setup used to fly an unmanned aircraft. It includes the flying drone, a ground controller, like a remote or a computer, cameras, data links, and all communication gear.
The BDCA said that the adjustment follows an extensive public consultation period during which it received a substantial volume of comments and technical input from stakeholders across the aviation and unmanned aircraft sectors.
BDCAA said that the depth and detail of the submissions received warrant additional time to ensure that each comment is given full and careful consideration and that it wishes to reassure the public that this is a timeline adjustment, not a change in scope or commitment.
“The revised draft will, as previously communicated, be published for an additional round of public review, providing all stakeholders with further opportunity to submit formal input before the regulations are finalised,” the BDCA said.
It reaffirmed its commitment to due process throughout the development of the UAS regulations and to the safe, harmonious coexistence of manned and unmanned aviation in Belizean airspace.
“The BDCA thanks all stakeholders for their patience and continued engagement and looks forward to furthering collaboration through the appropriate channels once the revised draft is made publicly available,” it added.
