BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Aug 5, CMC -The Central Bank of Barbados (CBB) WEdmesday warned about fraudulent emails inviting the public to access a so-called “personal BOSS+ investment portal.”

In a statement, the CBB, which is the administrator of BOSS+ bonds, said that the emails do not originate from the bank.

It said that the message currently circulating directs recipients to an unauthorised website using the domain bossplus.vip and provides contact information associated with bossplus.club and an Outlook email address.

“These websites, email addresses and contact details are not affiliated with the Central Bank of Barbados or the BOSS+ bond programme. Recipients should not click the link, reply to the email, call any telephone number provided, make any payment, or disclose personal, banking or other financial information,” the Central Bank warned.

It said that members of the public should delete unsolicited emails or messages that provide links to a BOSS+ investment portal as well as confirm that any BOSS+-related email comes from an authorised Central Bank of Barbados email address ending in centralbank.org.bb. · In addition, the public should access BOSS+ information by typing www.centralbank.org.bb directly into their browser, rather than following links received by email, text message or social media.

The public is also being urged to “report suspicious BOSS+-related messages to the Central Bank using the contact details published on its official website.

“The Central Bank is the administrator of BOSS+ bonds and has not authorised the portal or the individuals identified in the fraudulent email. The Bank continues to monitor attempts to misuse its name and financial products and urges the public to remain vigilant.”
