The Survey highlights a number of young upcoming bands and individuals and allows patrons both locally, regionally and internationally to vote for the Artist they wish to see perform on the food court stage as the supplemental show at the World Creole Music Festival.
Ms. Marva Williams, Events Assistant at the Dominica Festivals Committee said “While the main goal of the festival is to increase the economic activity and increase visitor arrivals, the DFC is also seeking to provide opportunities for our local artists to expose Dominica’s exciting music and culture to the world wide audience and to develop the capacity of the local music industry and events management professionals.”
Patrons looking to take advantage of this opportunity can visit the World Creole Music Festival Website at www.wcmfdominica.com and vote for the artist of their choice.
The local artists thus far include, Cross Vibes, Signal Band, Eighth Note Jazz Band, SOS Band, Caribbean Vibes, Asha Thomas, Colton T, Golda, Divine Sounds, Lyric and more.
In the upcoming weeks it is expected that there will be additional bands and individuals added to the survey. The DFC will announce the selected artists early in October.
About the WCMF 2014:
The 18th annual WCMF will be held, October 24-26, at the Windsor Park Stadium, Roseau, Dominica. Headline acts include, Jamaican dancehall artist Jah Cure; Afro-beat sensation Flavor of Nigeria, West Africa and Latin Grammy Award-winning Merengue singer Elvis Crespo of Puerto Rico. Coupled with Zouk masters hailing from Guadeloupe and Martinique inclusive of the well-known ‘Franky Vincent’ and Harry Soundourayen, ‘plus Haiti’s masters of Compas – Tabou Combo and T-Vice. The lineup also includes the newly formed group Klass and from the Soca Arena –Bachanalist Kerwin Dubois, Whining Queen Denise Belfon and Destra. Local bands include Triple Kay Global, Extasy Band and Honored Creole Icon for this year, the Midnight Groovers Band.
The event is presented by the Government of Dominica alongside Headline Partner Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) and Gold Partner ‘Digicel’.-
