PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC- Trinidad and Tobago police Wednesday confirmed that a 23-year old student from the St Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) had been found dead on a bench on the grounds of the institution.
Police said that it appeared that Piadee Jagoo had apparently committed suicide after a hypodermic needle had been found near the body.
It is not known what studies Jagoo had been pursuing, but he was identified by the UWI identification card even though media reports said he had been expelled from the institution.
Newly-re-appointed UWI principal Dr. Bhoe Tewarie was unavailable for comment on the issue. He was reported to be at a meeting.
