MANCHESTER, England, Oct 20, CMC – Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s impressive start to the Women’s Super League continued with her two goals carrying Manchester City to a nervy 3-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion here on Sunday.

The Jamaican international found the back of the net twice in the first half, but City was made to fight to the final whistle to hold off a stern challenge from Brighton and keep their unbeaten streak in the WSL alive.

Shaw scored in the fifth and 16th minute, linking up with winger Lauren Hemp for both goals to put City ahead 2-0.

It was her seventh goal in six matches in the WSL and left last year’s top goal scorer atop the table.

England full-back Niamh Charles then drilled in a third goal one minute later to extend City’s lead and seemingly put the contest to bed.

However, Olivia Garcia poked home a Fran Kirby cut-back in the 31st minute, before Caitlin Hayes’ header six minutes later reduced City’s lead to just one goal.

Man City did have chances to add to their tally in the second half, with Shaw’s low effort the best of them.

The win was the defending champions’ sixth in as many wins and gave them a two-point lead over Chelsea at the top of the table.
