GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Oct 20, CMC – A magistrate court will next month give a ruling as to whether or not  those accused of involvement in the October 26, 2025 gas station bombing resulting in the death of six-year-old Soraya Bourne, will stand trial, following a no-case submission by their attorneys.

The explosion also  resulted in injuries to four other people.

Last month, the defence attorneys for three of the accused  made no case submissions on their behalf and Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty Monday indicated that the ruling will be given next month.

She said that the prosecution has responded to the no-case submission and that she will make her determination on the matter on November 10.

Magistrate McGusty will review the statements, reports and documentary evidence tendered in court before deciding whether there is sufficient evidence against those accused of bombing the gas station.

The attorneys for the three accused Jhonny Boodram, Krystal La Cruz and Alexander Bettencourt have asked the Court to find that the prosecution led by Mandel Moore failed to make out  case against their clients.

Boodram, La Cruz, and Bettencourt together with the prime suspect, Daniel Alexander Ramirez Peodemo are currently facing a terrorism charge for the October 2025 bombing, which resulted in the death of six-year-old Soraya Bourne.

Ramirez Peodemo’s State appointed Counsel Shellon Boyce told the Court that her client will abide by the ruling of the Court.

Earlier this year, the main accused, Ramirez Peodemo told the Court that he was the sole person responsible for the deadly bombing, and pleaded with the court to have the other three accused freed.

But when the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) instructed the Prosecution to proceed with the terrorism charges against the three other Venezuelan nationals, Ramirez Peodemo recanted his guilty plea.
