WASHINGTON, Oct 23, CMC – The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency says it has arrested four undocumented Haitian nationals in its operation to “protect” Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programme (SNAP) benefits intended for impoverished US citizens.

ICE said the four Haitians were apprehended in the nationwide operation targeting illegal immigrants who have been “fraudulently collecting taxpayer-funded Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits”.

ICE said the illegal Haitians among its “first handful of arrests” are Rubstony Junior Theodore, whose prior arrests include larceny, obstruction of officers, and trespassing; Wilbert Jean Baptiste; Louis Jean; and Jhensly Charles.

“These arrests are the first wave of a nationwide ICE operation targeting illegal aliens who have fraudulently accessed SNAP benefits intended by Congress for US citizens in need,” ICE said, adding “every one of these illegal aliens have entered the country unlawfully, and, in some cases, while carrying criminal records.

“Defrauding US taxpayer-funded programs designed to feed struggling American families will not be tolerated, and ICE will continue to seek out and arrest these criminal illegal aliens,” it noted.

ICE said US President Donald J. Trump and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin are “taking decisive action to stop SNAP fraud and will not relent until every last one of these thieves are identified, removed, and barred from further access to American taxpayer-funded benefits”.

Mullin said illegal aliens who have no right to be here in the first place are the last people who should be using SNAP benefits and other forms of welfare.

“These programmes are for Americans only. Even non-violent illegal alien crime can still have devastating consequences when they’re defrauding the American taxpayer.

“The illegal alien fraudsters that we’ve already arrested and deported are just a drop in the bucket, and the Trump Administration is committed to going after all these thieves and bringing them to justice,” he added.
