This training is the 3rd of the FDCC Workshop Series themed -Encouraging Intellectual Empowerment, Effective Communication and Respect.
The Workshop will be held on Thursday, May 21st at 8:00am and will be facilitated by Dr. Sheron Burns, Lecturer of Early Childhood Education at UWI, Cave Hill, supported by the FDCC Board Chair, Dr. Carol Logie.
Workshop activities will expose public-sector and private-sector ECD service providers to ECD best-practices and global service standards as well as provide participants with training in new skills and competencies to improve the quality and delivery of ECD services throughout the Caribbean. Two training sessions held earlier this year provided trainers with preliminary information on the skills, competencies and knowledge of the ECD practitioners.
With the support of the Sandals Foundation, FDCC will promote a new “training the trainers” model to enhance sustainability and expansion of FDCC training processes across the Caribbean.
With the new Board vision of supporting THE CHILD AND THE COMMUNITY, this training series is designed to build the confidence, skills and outreach of Caribbean Early Childhood practitioners and service providers.
Specialized trainers from the Child Care Board will “shadow” the lead facilitator of this 3rd training session to learn from hands on practice how to conduct these sessions at national and community levels.
With the involvement of a diverse group of committed ECD stakeholders, improving the quality and availability of Early Childhood Development (ECD) experiences and services throughout the Caribbean will action FDCC’s strategic vision which is dedicated “to enhance early childhood development for socially and economically disadvantaged Caribbean children 0-5 years”
