The Caribbean Media Corporation and the regional umbrella association of regional copyright collection organisations, Caribbean Copyright Link (CCL) have successfully concluded a deal for the licensing of the rights to make available to the public by radio, television or the internet the matches of the ICC World Twenty 20 2010 West Indies, which take place 30 April 2010- 16 May 2010.
As was the case in 2007 when a similar arrangement was made, the CCL members, COSCAP (Barbados), COTT ( Trinidad & Tobago), ECCO (Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States) and JACAP (Jamaica) will, on behalf of CMC licence the right to show the Twenty20 matches in public places, whether these showings are for free or with an admission fee.
The rights to show these events have been exclusively vested in the CMC and the CCL members will in this case act as the agents of the CMC. Therefore, those premises making available to the public the Twenty 20 matches should contact the CCL Member Society for their territory or the CMC directly for further information. It should also be noted that as these are exclusive rights, if these matches are shown or transmitted to the public, this may be an infringement of copyright.
