1 min read

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Feb 23 – The Caribbean Media Corporation is pleased to announce it has acquired the Caribbean mobile phone rights for ICC  Cricket World Cup 2007.

CMC is the Official Broadcaster in the Caribbean for ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, and it will make available to Cable & Wireless mobile phone users two special packages – “live” video of matches, and video match highlights.

CMC will also make available to C&W mobile phone users its CricketPlus updates on matches during the World Cup.

Michael Whyte, Commercial & New Business Development Manager of CMC, said that the regional broadcaster was once again pioneering technology in the Caribbean.

“This mobile rights offering will be the first display in the Caribbean for a major
sporting event, and CMC is delighted at this opportunity,” he said.

“We will use this as a platform to introduce CMC putting its content on mobile phones. This is just the start of bigger things to come!”

It will be the regional distributor to television stations of the World Feed of all 51 matches in the tournament.

CMC will also produce coverage of all major matches for radio under its CricketPlus banner.

Whyte also noted that the regional broadcaster is also making video play-out and uplink facilities available from all of the host venues to carry full news coverage, including breaking stories, to broadcasters throughout the region and the rest of the World.
