PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, Feb 2, CMC – Nationals from Barbados, Jamaica and Guyana are the new recipients of the Anthony N Sabga Awards, Caribbean Excellence announced here on Monday.
The five were selected by an eminent panel of Caribbean citizens and will each receive half a million Trinidad and Tobago dollars (One TT dollar=US$0.16 cents) in support for ongoing work that uplifts the Caribbean region.
They are Sheena Rose, visual artist from Barbados, in the category of Arts & Letters, Dean Nevers, telecommunications entrepreneur from Jamaica, in the category of Entrepreneurship, Barbadian social activist, Mrs Shamelle Rice in the category of Public & Civic Contributions.
The Guyana-United States resident Dr Niven Narain, a biotech innovator, is honoured in the category of Science & Technology , while Jamaican Professor Tannecia Stephenson is also being awarded in the same category.
