DHAKA, Bangladesh, Oct 30, CMC – Bangladesh have an overall lead of 61 runs after reaching 34 for four against the West Indies at tea on the third day of the opening Test match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium here on Friday.

West Indies captain Roston Chase led a superb West Indies fightback after lunch, taking three wickets to leave the home side in serious trouble heading into the last session of the day’s play.

Fast bowler Shamar Joseph delivered an early blow when he had Tanzid Hasan caught by Chase at gully for a duck with just one run on the board.

Bangladesh, with a slim 27-run first innings lead, progressed to 28 without further loss until off spinner Chase claimed the wickets of first innings centurion Shadman Islam for 13, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto for 10 and Towhid Hridoy for a duck, to turn the match on its head.

Rain then forced the players off the field with the umpires opting to take an early tea break as result.
